Lead Prop Artist

Ready At Dawn is looking for a Lead Prop Artist to join us in creating high profile original titles for both the VR and AAA console spaces. Working together in close collaboration with design, art, rigging, and animation departments, the Lead Prop Artist is responsible for the production of stunning 3d assets, ranging from storytelling and world building set pieces, to highly detailed interactive vehicles and weapons. As rapid prototyping of block-out models, with extensive in-game setup and testing, is a very important part of the role, a passion for making game content that is as fun and satisfying to play as it is compelling to look at is absolutely essential.

In the lead role we are also looking for a strong ability to serve as an advocate for the props team, guiding other artists through both mentorship and critique, and striving to improve our art process through R&D and pipeline development, alongside our tool and engine teams.


  • Create highly iterative model block-outs, in close collaboration with concept, design, and animation
  • Create highly polished game assets with compelling gameplay and animation behaviors
  • Help establish and maintain both aesthetic quality and technical performance standards for props (poly count, texture memory, LOD)
  • Provide feedback and mentorship to other artists on the team, as well as reviews and critiques for external prop artists
  • Collaborate with tools and engine teams to continually improve upon our custom workflows and technology for model and game asset creation
  • Help research new art production techniques and standards


  • Strong eye for visual and technical quality
  • Past experience as a Prop Artist in a Lead or Senior level role
  • Excellent communication and collaborative problem solving skills
  • Experienced technical understanding of optimal topology for rigging and deformations, efficient UV layouts, texel density standardization, and LOD creation
  • Experience with a variety of texturing and surfacing packages
  • Experience with real-time physics setup, with collision and constraint authoring, is also a plus
